Medicines should be prescribed only when they are necessary, and in all cases the benefit of administering the medicine should be considered in relation to the risk involved. This is particularly important during pregnancy where the risk to both mother and fetus must be considered


All Prescriptions

Should be written legibly in ink
Should be dated,
Should state the full name and registration of the patient,
Should be signed in ink by the prescriber
The age of the patient should clearly be stated (<12 yrs)
The dose and units should be written should be clearly
