Library Policies

I. Mission and Vision:
In the light of Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Continuing Education Department’s (CED) philosophy and aims, along with adopting the latest trends in automation within e-government practices, the Medical Central Library vision, mission and values are:

Vision: The source of health care knowledge for the medical society in Dubai.
Mission: In order to realize our Vision, we will:

- Provide medical information resources to DHA community (Clinical and administrative staff, Nursing and Medical students) and to the local community.
- Train the library users to acquire high quality information skills.
- Disseminate current and up-to-date medical and health information
- Assist researchers in knowledge management

Values:
- Equitability and fairness
- Excellent services, resources, and technology
- Respectful, well-mannered and responsive customer service by a knowledgeable and consistent staff
- Teamwork within the Library

I. Strategic Objectives:
A. Collections:
To build and maintain a top level medical and health related sciences library with a high quality collection whose subjects and formats, meet the information needs of the clinical and administrative staff as well as medical students.
To select, order and process the library materials in an efficient, effective and professional methods.

B. Services:
To develop and improve delivery services that are quick to respond to user information needs.
To provide powerful and resourceful access to health information
To act as an information resources for health practitioners in DHA and the region.

C. Human Resources:
To build a human infrastructure that responds to user information needs.
To provide sufficient number of well trained and motivated personnel who works together in a team work.

D. Technical Resources:
To enhance and update a high quality and effective technical infrastructure.

E. Continuing Education:
To provide library users with high quality information skills, independent learning and lifelong learning.

F. Facilities:
To provide a high quality physical environment for clients, personnel and collections.
