About:
The
Digital Library (DL) programme in the MLS was initiated in the year 1999. It
is usable by all employees of the DOHMS from within the campus or from home.
The DL focuses on: developing and managing digital collections and access
tools; providing electronic publishing capabilities and services for the
DOHMS patrons; providing and sustaining a comprehensive computing
environment for them; providing frameworks and systems to federate
distributed information resources; and serving as a catalyst for addressing
electronic information issues on DOHMS campus.
The
MLS services are divided into 5 major divisions, which are further separated
into subdivided facilities:
1
Library Services: responsible for managing the
computing infrastructure of the Library;
Local Health Resources: responsible for managing the Library's online catalog and related
tools;
Remote Health Resources: responsible for
managing the remote e-resources and Library related tools/departments;
Virtual Reference Desk: responsible for managing the
Library’s ‘on-the-spot’ resources;
Library
Information: responsible for information about the Library’s
administrative aspects.
